The Consumer Electronics Show is usually taken over with several impressive innovations. And this year will be no different. In the fiercely contested mobile phone battle, the Palm Pre is making a strong run to the throne. With its smooth appearance, coupled with a new CPU of the House TI, the phone is claimed to offer a tabbing-style application management with even simultaneous working applications. The unit also comes with an elegant 3.1-inch touchscreen, a full QWERTY keyboard, a 3mp camera, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm jack and microUSB plugs, and an innovative wireless recharger capability.

LG LHB979 Blu-ray Home Theater System

The LHB979 is LG’s complete and sleek looking Blu-ray Home Theater System. The 5.1 channel system features thin champagne-glass shaped front-tower speakers, mini rear speakers, and a built in iPod dock with 2 separate HDMI inputs. Video from Netflix, CinemaNow, and YouTube is compatible, which makes it a real home system that goes above and beyond. The LHB979 is slated for a May release. No price tag yet.

Slim and All-in-One PC solutions have gained major popularity in the recent years. Lenovo’s latest invention may have pushed them in front of the pack of the competition. Not only does it look “cool,” but this computer can also serve as a home entertainment center. Lenovo’s new “Idea Center A600″ offers a sleek 21.5-inch 1080p HD screen, a built-in TV tuner and offers a 1TB storage capability. The A600’s emphasis on “multimedia” clarifies with the matching remote which works as a media control with motion-drive feature and even doubles as a VoIP handset.

LG KS660 Mobile Phone
LG is making significant progress in the cell phone business. It has just announced its first dual-SIM handset, the KS660. It will feature a 3 inch touchscreen WQVGA display, a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and video recording, tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, 50MB of memory space upgradeable via microSDHC and an accelerometer to play with. This dual-SIM device has sacrificed the 3G and WiFi connectivity options but we might get those in future versions. The KS660 will arrive in China, Russia and a few of its neighbors in Q1 2009 for. Other countries? We’ll just have to wait and see. And we also need a price for it.

Parrot Zikmu Wireless Speakers by Philippe Starck
Philippe Starck designed a wireless speaker called the “Zikmu” for electronics brand, Parrot. The Zikmu allows you to dock your iPod or iPhone to the system with the use of both WiFi and Bluetooth. What makes the Zikmu unique other than its minimalist design is that it uses NXT flat panel technology. Parrot claims that, instead of traditional cones, the NXT allows the speakers to create a 360-degree system of producing quality sound. Measuring at about 2.5 feet tall, the Zikmu will be releasing in the Spring season of 2009. It will retail for $1,500.

Nokia N97
Nokia N97 is smart phone that goes beyond of what some smart phones out there currently have to offer. It connects with 3.5G (HSDPA) and has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and A-GPS capabilities. For typing, you have a slide out QWERTY keyboard and a 3.5-inch touchescreen which displays 640 x 360. It features a 5-megapixel camera with a recording capability of 30fps videos wich can be stored on its 32GB internal flash drive. Asustek Bamboo Laptop
Asustek has announced its release for its eco-conscious laptop. With electronic waste becoming a bigger problem, Asus’s initiative to use renewable products has now become more public. The laptop features a casing made of bamboo, which is a fast growing plant that is common throughout Asia. The plant has a variety of uses from furniture to food, and more. Performance wise, the notebook runs on an Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessor with Microsoft Windows Vista as its operating system. It has a 12.1-inch screen for viewing and will be priced at about $1,800. No exact date on a U.S. release yet.
