AnotherMag: Raf Simons Autumn/Winter Video by Pierre Debusscere

Another Man recently did a video piece on Raf Simon’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection filmed by Pierre Debusscere. The idea of the video is to show the the theme of fragmentation that is present in the range. Coats, suits, and hats are the three parts that are in the collections. “They work as a whole and not on its own,” states Raf Simons. On the other hand, “Pierre Debusschere’s film about the collection plays with the twin ideas of speed and fragmentation.”

Warrior Footwear – Spring/Summer 2010

Warrior Footwear was originally created in 1935 to supply China with affordable athletic shoes, and after decades of dominating their respective market, they have evolved to become a beloved brand among alternative-minded youth in Beijing and Shanghai. Referred to as “Hui Li” in China, the Warrior brand has defined itself by using lightweight canvas with flexible rubber soles to achieve what they call a “a classic silhouette with clean sophisticated definition.” We love their iconic look and are excited to see their upcoming spring/summer collection, which promises to almost double their current lineup, adding four new styles and seven new color options.

Saskia Diez – Papier Bags

From the Sakia-Diez site: Take up the familiar, give it further thought and add something new: A collaborative project between Saskia and Stefan Diez, the “Papier” series is an experiment in revising the classical typology: the two designers have pointed out the basic requirements to a travel bag – durability, protection and light weight – and sought for an appropriate material other than the traditional choices of leather and reinforced textiles. The “Papier” bags are made of Tyvek®, a synthetic paper that is extremely lightweight – 135g for the bigger and 115g for the smaller bag – but at the same time exceptionally robust, both water- and tear-proof. The material is completely recyclable. Apart from that, one will appreciate the high-end finishes applied to such seemingly banal material as paper. Silkscreen printing techniques gives it a particularly attractive look. “Papier” won the German Designpreis 2010.
Available at Saskia-Diez and select retailers world wide.
Sophnet. Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

As the Japanese designers start rolling out their Spring/Summer 2010 collection, we get a better sense of what styles and trends we here in the U.S. will be adapting to our own wardrobe. But in the case of Hirofumi Kiyonaga, trends aren’t his target. He’s just making clothes as he sees them to be. For Sophnet’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection, we get a very laid back and relaxed sense for the season’s range. Patterns appear dominant with flower images, stripes, plaids, polka-dots, and more. The collection reflects the tropical surroundings, but in a very casual way, so the feeling as you wear it doesn’t feel too much as if you’re just there for a vacation.
White Mountaineering Pullover Hood Shirt

From a far, it deceptively looks like a parka. But upon closer look, you’ll realize that this hooded piece is actually a shirt. The concept remains for this White Mountaineering product, where the direction is towards style for the outdoors. While some may opt for the traditional hoodie or light parka, some may feel the need to just stay comfortable in something with a soft, lighter shirt material. Available now at Knock-Out.
Aubin & Wills – Spring 2010 Lookbook

One should usually be weary of so called “spin off” brands when it comes to fashion, because usually the trend is that the “spin off” is lower priced, lower quality, and geared towards the younger folk. On the other hand, there is Aubin & Wills, which is Jack Will’s ’spin off’ brand. The plus side to this spin off is it goes from goes from the “younger” University looks of Jack Wills, towards the older more sensible, more mature recent graduates of the Aubin & Wills customer. For Spring 2010, those recent graduates looking to upgrade their wardrobe can look to pieces such as large knits, summer suits, linen trousers, cotton blazers, coats, and sweaters – all the basic staple one needs to transition from University life to the real world.

Gaspard Yurkievich & Eastpak Bags
