Flaph Spring/Summer 2009 Collection

flaph-ss09-front

Japanese brand Flaph is back with a Spring/Summer 09 line that both pays homage to and updates the bold patterns and pieces that have become preppy staples. Plaid features prominently, from a rich green, yellow and red shirt jacket, to earth-tone pants and several options in button-downs. The outerwear stands out in the collection, as well, including a three-button blazer with vertical stripes in navy and red and a two-tone green raincoat. The line steers clear of the ever-popular slim fit, opting for a roomier cut, most notably in a pair of wide patchwork shorts, giving the clothes a casual feel. The range is rounded out by a contrast, five-button polo in black and white and a classic tennis sweater. Visit www.flaph.com for details on where to buy.

3sixteen-2009-fall-lookbook-front

As we continue to make the slow, hopeful trek toward the warm summer weather, New York-based label 3sixteen, like much of the fashion world, is looking well beyond into the fall. We’ve previously shown you a video 3sixteen put together while shooting their Fall 2009 Lookbook around the city, and now they have provided a preview of results. Featuring an array of smart, heavy-duty outerwear, denim, shirts and accessories, the look is clean and classic, with enough understated design detail to keep the clothing up to date. A gray shawl-neck pullover with a wood toggle-fastening stands out, echoing the collection’s own wool duffle coat. For those of you already dreading the inevitable segue from August to September, at least you will have this to look forward to.

eubiQ NY Spring / Summer 2009

eubiq-ss09-front

The Spring/Summer 09 line from eubiQ NY is modern, innovative and refreshingly functional. Designer Shirley Lee has an eye for interesting details that make her clothes stand out, but don’t send them over the top. The result is a collection that is simultaneously casual and structured, minimalist and sophisticated, with enough options to satisfy a healthy variety of tastes and needs. For every more traditional piece, there seems to also be a unique counterpart. See, for example, the classic knit cardigan, contrasted with a double-breasted version, or a crisp beige trench opposite a sleeveless, hooded overcoat. Men on the go will certainly appreciate the abundant pockets on many of the garments, smartly placed for convenience without sacrificing the design edge. The clean lines and muted colors make these basics ideal for combining with any number of other pieces throughout the summer months. Select items are available at the eubiQ NY online shop, and at boutiques like Atrium in Miami.

Two days in a row of previews from A Continuous Lean has brought us a insiders view of the new J.Crew Men’s Store on 484 Broadway in NYC. Chalked full of vintage details and in store experience, the Men’s store is a happy medium of sorts between the J.Crew Liquor Store boutique, which opened last year and the abundant mall based retail stores. With new collaborations between Alden Shoes, Sperry, Baracuta, and Mister Freedom there are plenty of unique pieces that will soon be hard to find. The Men’s Store also looks to feature plenty unique and vintage pieces like watches, pencil sharpeners, and staplers which may be strictly decor or actually available for sale; we’ll have to check out the store ourselves and take a look.
