Rugby Ralph Lauren – Spring 2010

rugbyralphlauren-spring2010

With Spring just around the corner, Rugby Ralph Lauren presents us a few looks from their upcoming collection for the season. You’ll notice a lot of items heavy on cream and navy colors, which Rugby exclaims to be inspired by vintage sports. Items for spring include English cricket jackets, varsity striped sweaters, and a bevy of fleeces. The label is a personal favorite, and I’m also looking forward to their upcoming rugby shirts.

Coming Soon – Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection Preview

comingsoon-fw2010

Yohji Yamamoto’s offshoot label, Coming Soon offers us a different view of the designer’s fashion aesthetics. For Autumn/Winter, Yohji continues to play more with colors, patterns, and designs, adding details such as diamond pattern sleeves, distressed denim, a multicolored plaid blazer, and wool suiting. The range is a very solid continuation from its Spring/Summer predecessor, and we hope to see more of the line as it continues to drop this winter.

M’ Tokyo/Japan – Spring/Summer 2010

m-toyko-japan-main

Designed in Japan by keen mountaineer Mitsuo, very little is known about this label. Available in just a handful of select retailers worldwide, ‘M’ is manufactured using traditional techniques in a small workshop in Japan. Natural dyed cotton is washed in the rivers by the workshop and dried under the sun on the riverbeds before being put into production; this ancient Japanese tradition is used by very few designers today. As well as their beautiful design and construction, garments have an element of purpose to them; the SS10 collection feels just right for a trek in the foothills but equally appropriate for the city too, with integrated backpacks on shirts, heavy cotton shorts and jackets forming the core of the collection. Available now at Coggles.

Whyred – Fall/Winter 2010 Show

whyred-fallwinter2010

Fresh from Fashion Week by Berns in Stockholm is Whyred’s Fall/Winter 2010 show. With a strong direction reflecting modism, the label appropriately follows suit with a collection that boasts both simplicity and minimalism. Solid dark colors are portrayed in the color story, which goes well together with the very streamlined pieces. Trimmings and details are seemingly hidden in the looks, giving more attention to the construction and the form of the pieces on the body.

Creep by Hiroshi Awai – Fall/Winter 2010 Lookbook

CREEP-FW2010-LOOK-BOOK-main

Creep by Hiroshi Awai’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection is a favorite here at SwipeLife. For Fall/Winter 2010, we got a chance to get up close and personal with some of the pieces when we made our way to the Capsule Show in NYC this past month. With an extremely darker vibe than the Spring collection, Creep’s direction still follows the same design principles with pieces that are unique and well crafted. The quality is outstanding upon inspection and a few things that stood out for us was the blue toggle coat and the camel colored suit. This solid collection is worth the look for the winter of 2010.

With a reputation for superb craftsmanship, the intricate emboss designs of the shoe work well with its chestunut and dark brown color. The two-tone also definitely gives way to the detailed stitching of the shoes, which can also be seen in the back. This model is testament to Yuketen’s craft and is the reason why they are one of the most coveted brands at the moment. Available at Imperials.
