Ralph Lauren – Spring 2010

As shown in seasons past, Ralph Lauren incorporates the unique lifestyles from all of his heralded lines: The distinguished and luxurious Purple Label, the sophisticated and urban Black label and the classic American and sporty Polo Blue label. Each are laudable if examined independently, but one could arguably choose to sort the lines in a hierarchy (if by sophistication or price).
There was expertly tailored suiting for the Purple Label noting the sleek, black, 3-piece suit with paisley tie as an example. The overall silhouette is slim and features slim lapels. The addition of the vest and pocket square also heighten the elegance of the entire look. Another standout look is the navy pinstriped button-up with matching pants. This is sportswear for the Purple Label, but it’s the apparent fitted shape and refined tailoring which distinguishes it from the other Lauren lines.

Ralph Lauren 2010 Spring /Summer Preview of Purple Label, Black Label, and Polo

Ralph Lauren published the looks for their three subsidiary brands Black Label, Purple Label, and Polo by Ralph Lauren for the Spring/Summer of 2010 earlier this week continuing to develop the classic look that has won them devotees the world over and made them a household name. Across all three sub-brands the looks project confidence and a sense of bonne vivant balanced with fun and practicality. Black Label’s tailored wear hones in on understated, worldly flavor and flow while Black Label’s sportswear hints at futurism, moving forward with hi tech materials and shine but with an underlying sensibility that doesn’t outlive it’s usefulness. Purple Label maintains the lavish side of things, with first class tailoring and blues and blacks to be thrown in the mix with multi-colored sweaters and geometric patterns. The Polo sportswear continues the low key, vintage feel that has earned it fans for generations. The tailored clothing is all about light fabrics, plaids and pastels. Something for everyone, from the Hemingway’s and Gatsby’s to the Kanye West’s.

RRL Bowery Boot

RRL – Ralph Lauren’s rugged offshoot – has produced an amazing pair of bench-made leather boots. Michael Williams of A Continuous Lean did diligent work by finding these photos. The quality and craftsmanship is apparent in the product, and the vintage-achieved look adds enormous character to the boot. The upper is constructed from Horween leather with vintage deadstock Cat Paw heels. This product will be available mid to late August at RRL stores for $750 in a limited supply – really limited.

Ralph Lauren Timepieces

Ralph Laurenr has teamed up with the likes of Piaget and Jaeger LeCoultre to produce an impressive line of timepieces. Three distinct collections were produced in this effort: The Slim Classique, The Sporting and The Stirrup. Since enlisting the help of these industry juggernauts, Ralph Lauren hopes to solidify a place in the market as a respectable watchmaker. This is a leap ahead of their novelty pieces that flood the department store displays. The latest pieces of these collections have excellent craftsmanship and possess some of the most refined mechanical components. There are elements of antique and luxury in these pieces that are exemplary of the Ralph Lauren name.

Blank Magazine – Sleek Ideas Editorial

Blank Magazine hands the spotlight to the Ralph Lauren Spring 2009 menswear collection in its #38 issue, showcasing just why the label has been such an enduring force in fashion. “Sleek Ideas” consists of six different looks of head-to-toe Ralph Lauren on model Brian Davenport, shot by photographer Pieter Henket. The collection is what the label does best: timeless pieces with a preppy bent, like a tennis sweater and blue pinstripe pants. This season, orange fits in prominently, on chinos embellished with a crest, cable-knit sweaters and dress shirts. Combined with the turquoise backdrop and slick “Mad Men” hair, the feel is retro cool. Davenport also made that issue’s cover, in a navy spring coat. For information on where to buy (hint: everywhere), see the Ralph Lauren site.

Brigham Desk from Ralph Lauren Home

Ralph Lauren, while being more famous for designing stylish garments than his forays into furniture, still has an eye for adding style to any situation, and this Brigham Desk is no different. The desk is a sleek piece of furniture crafted out of crotch mahogany with a cognac finish, sitting atop a polished stainless steel base, adding a touch of elegance to your home or office. The Brigham Desk is available at Ralph Lauren Home.
