ediface-ss09-front

Edifice presents a Spring/Summer 2009 collection that is full of classic staples with contemporary touches. Timeless button-downs have been given modern details like tab sleeves and short collars, in white, navy and a floral print. What a nautical-inspired vest may lack in sleeves, it makes up for with three pockets and six wooden buttons. A vertical stripe hoodie with rope drawstring has a similar beachy feel. For a more dressy occasion, the collection offers a simple wool suit with a cropped, notched lapel jacket in gray or black. And if you weren’t quite ready to give up your winter peacoat when the weather warmed up, try the lightweight cotton summer version. Edifice is available at Opening Ceremony.

Opening Ceremory Lookbook – Spring 2009

opening-ceremony-pics

Spring has arrived, and with it, the Opening Ceremony Lookbook for the season. The spread from the venerable retailer and design house, photographed by KT Auleta, showcases a collection of basics that is in line with many of the trends for this season. Khaki is everywhere, here in jean-cut shorts and full-length trousers, both of which continue to climb higher on the leg, Thom Browne-style. Pastels abound, in the form of a jersey dress shirt in orange, pink shorts and a mint green rippleknit cardigan. Fittingly for spring, layering plays a key role in the collection, with a selection of crewneck sweaters and bombers to suit your mild weather needs. Check out the varsity jacket emblazoned with “Opening Ceremony Table Tennis” for a kick of old-school cool. And don’t let model Jesse Hudnutt’s pout fool you. Adding pieces from this lookbook to your spring wardrobe is a surefire way to bring a smile to your face.

Opening Ceremony Uniqlo Colleciton

uniqlo-opening-ceremony

Opening Ceremony is renowned for its sophisticated garments with international panache. Uniqlo carries simple and modern clothing that can be afforded by individuals across the board of the style community. News broke months ago on their collaboration, and their much anticipated efforts are now available at the online store.

I’m impressed most with the variety of plaid shirts with white-contrast collar. Opening Ceremony appears to emerge as the stronger influence in this partnership, but it’s clear that this is a succesful venture for both companies – Uniqlo’s fashion sense matures while Opening Ceremony taps into a broader market.
