Marc Jacobs – Fall/Winter 2010 Show

marcjacobs-fw2010-main

The simplicity and elegance Marc Jacobs brings to his Men’s Fall/Winter collection is near perfection. The look is very mature, yet it brings a subtle youthful touch with a range that consists of suits, leather jackets, large knits, and baggy trousers. The color palette is also on the quiet side with various degrees of blacks and greys mixed in with camel and burgundy. We exceptionally like the fit on the one button blazers and the detailing on the leather jackets.

Marc by Marc Jacobs – Spring 2010

marc-jacobs-spring-summer-2010

Marc Jacobs brings the style of 80’s teen movie anti-hero Duckie who plays opposite Molly Ringwald’s character in Pretty In Pink out of the time machine and onto the runway for his Spring 2010 Marc by Marc Jacobs line proving that Marc Jacobs wears his influences on his sleeve and usually to beautiful results. The eternal feud between Jocks and Nerds plays out in photos and this time everybody wins. The colors are loud, the patterns clash, and the hair is teased out ridiculously. The striped cardigan and the knit motorcycle jacket are excellent twists on nerdy staples. Special thanks to John Hughes for giving Jacobs the thread from which to weave a little 1980’s fashion gold for us all in 2010.

Marc Jacobs – Spring/Summer 2010 Men’s Lookbook

Marc-Jacobs-SS-2010-1

Marc Jacobs’ Spring/Summer 2010 look book reveals a new direction for the label that is very fresh and compelling. Some of the looks even seem tailored for an extremely well dressed villain in a spy movie. Jacobs never forgets to add rock and roll flourish to his most conservative garments, which is something one can rely on him to deliver season after season. The colors and the silhouettes are the geometry of cool, and everything fits together.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 Collection

Images of Marc Jacob’s Fall 2009 Collection can be viewed on his website. Also available for viewing is the Men’s Fall Collection for Marc by Marc Jacobs. The contrast in collections is apparent. The ‘Marc’ Collection worked a piled-on, hodgepodge vibe with silhouettes that were relaxed and oversized.

The Marc Jacobs Collection featured a European military-inspired reference. There were grey overcoats, leather trench coats, camouflage, and black clunky shoes. The model in the images even sports a 1940’s military hair style.

The vibrant patterns of stripes, paisleys, and checks give perfect contrast to the subtle materials of tweed and velvet for the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2009 ready-to-wear collection. The earthy tones of browns combined with reds, blacks, and greys for the outerwear and slacks, really give highlight to the inside layers of tops, button downs, and sweaters. The style is somewhat college prep inspired but in a more fashionable degree. The rest of the collection after the jump.
