Albam Wind Jammer Jacket

Looking for a bright alternative to the mass amount of blue lightweight jackets this Spring? The orange Wind Jammer jacket from Albam should suffice, and also allow you to pick up a part-time gig as a crossing guard. The jacket is made from a great light weight nylon and rightfully lacks the usual over branding from the pure sporting brands. Make sure to pick one up quick, if these are anything like Albam’s fisherman’s jackets, they will sell out very quickly. Currently available at Oi Polloi.
J. Crew Mackintosh® Coat

J.Crew has once again collaborated with a well-respected manufacturer to create a classic coat for their Spring line. The Mackintosh coat or “the Mac,” as the style refers to this brands namesake, was originally created by Scottish inventor Charles Macintosh in 1824. Providing a simpler alternative to the trench coat, this new J.Crew version of their handmade, water-resistant coat, comes in a light khaki and black colorway. Making this a perfect coat for the morning commute to the office or a night on the town. Available now at J.Crew.

Mackintosh ‘Torness’

The Mackintosh Torness is a bomber jacket with a lot of history behind it. Mackintosh, founded in 1823, has become as synonymous with Scotland as bagpipes. “Macs” were recognized for making the first waterproof coats by spreading rubber on cotton. While the technology has improved since then, the expert craftmanship has remained unchanged, even as the label has embraced a more upscale, design-friendly bent in recent years. When a label has been around as long as Mackintosh, and amassed as devoted a following, you can expect a certain level of quality. The Torness, available in both tan with white stripes and blue with white stripes, is made from a cotton-polyester blend and a viscose liner, making it lightweight enough for spring showers. The ribbed hem and cuffs give it a snug fit, so you can avoid the bulk of a more traditional raincoat. The Torness jacket is available online at CHCM in Tan/White Stripe or Blue/White STripe, along with several other selections from the label.

Christopher Raeburn jackets are constructed from re-deployed military parachutes. Relatively a new comer in the fashion industry, Raeburn is known for his use of fabrics sourced from de-commissioned military stock. He has shown some of his work at the Imperial War Museum in London, and was recently featured in Hywel Davies’ “100 New Designers.” So far, these jackets are the only collection available at Raeburn, but we definitely look forward to his future projects.

GQ just did a special editorial on how to buy a raincoat. One of the brands they point to is two centuries old Mackintosh from Scotland. The label was named after chemist, Charles Macintosh who invented the first lightweight waterproof fabric. Some of Mackintosh’s raincoat options for this season come from collaborative efforts with other brands such as J. Crew, John Bartlett, and Jussara Lee. Check out more of the coats after the jump.

A.P.C. Houndstooth Hooded Parka

Houndstooth is one of those classic patterns that go hand in hand with a label like A.P.C. This Hooded Parka features a Navy and Off White color combination that is 100% cotton and really lightweight. The hood is removable and it also has a button front closure. You can get one now at End Clothing.
YMC Wax Hooded Coat

Jackets lend so much to my outfits. My summer-day wardrobe is surrendered to white and grey tees or white and blue button-ups, and I do not intend on abandoning this motif in future summers. However, I relish the opportunity to sport light jackets for cooler summer evenings to showcase whatever stylishness that I may have. Spring season affords me a window to wear several light jackets.
London-based YMC (You Must Create) influences their modernist approach to the trench coat. The cotton shell is not typical to most trenches which feature thicker and sturdier fabric. The wax cotton reflects light to add an interesting sheen and is extremely lightweight. Other features of the coat include drawstring hood with central zip detail, belted waist, and double button-fastening throat tab. Available at OiPolloi. More images after the jump.
