Inspired by the male spirit, designer Rafa Garcia has come up with a stylish, innovative coffee table that is also functional in usage. The ‘Sancal Elipse’ features an upper surface that looks as if it’s levitating in the air, giving off a mystic look to the furniture. The table is created with a metal structure in F1 steel tube polished in epoxy coating, while the upper and bottom surfaces are carved out of lacquered high frequency pressed MDF (medium-density fibreboard). The ‘Sancal Elipse’ is available in two different dimensions: rectangular measuring 1140mm x 700mm and square 1140mm x 1140mm, while the height (350mm) remains same in both measurements. A comfortable sleep would usually mean a simulation of your body floating in rest. With a unique frame design, the Urano bed from Falegnameria 1946 gives you your bed the illusion that it’s somehow defying gravity, for the most part. Designed by Leonardo Danielli constructed this piece from thick elements on a burnished steel frame. It is a mixture of modern and classical design the echoes a lot of the elegantly crafted furniture Falegnameria already stocks.

Tati Lamp

Italian architect Ferruccio Laviani’s latest project for furniture manufacturer Kartell, the ‘Tati’ lamp, is unique in its design and shape. Greatly resembling a mini flat-screen television, the Tati lamp is made out of a fluorescent circlet which is contained inside the TV-like box, and comes in four different variations, which set different moods. Its base, unlike in conventional table and floor lamps, is a neat glassy cuboid supporting the lamp, with the wiring in place. Along with his other creation designed for Kartell, the ‘Bloom’ lamp, Laviani will be exhibiting his designs for public viewing at Milan Design Week 2009.
