Raf Simons for Fred Perry Autumn/Winter 2009/2010

Belgian fashion designer Raf Simons continues his longstanding relationship with quintessential British label Fred Perry for a collaborative collection for the autumn/winter season. In addition to knitwear, the black and white grainy images showcase how the iconic Fred Perry thirty-leaf logo is used; the embroidered laurel is enlarged in the polo shirt, getting a metallic rusting treatment inspired by American minimalist artist Carl Andre.

Vespa x Fred Perry 100th Anniversary Scooter

To celebrate their 100th anniversary, quintessential brand Fred Perry teams up with the fourth largest producer of scooters and motorcycles in the world, Piaggio, to create a limited edition Vespa scooter. Limited to only 100 pieces, the scooter features iconic Fred Perry branding throughout, including the world famous logo and the tipping stripes, and will only be available in the U.K., the U.S., France, and Japan from August.

Raf Simons x Fred Perry 100th Anniversary Collection

The Fred Perry label is representive of timeless style that transcends social hierarchies and various subcultures driven by music. The brand has remained to be relevant for years, even collaborating with renowned contemporary designers such as Raf Simons and Comme des Garcons. Through this evolution, the spirit of the line has still retained the confidence and panache that the great British tennis legend embodied.

Raf Simons teamed up with the iconic sportswear brand to reinterpret one of the legend’s outfits to commemorate his 100th birthday. The collaborative offerings include a black, single-breasted jacket, grey wide leg pleated trousers, slim fit white shirt, laurel print tie, ivory cable knit jumper and a black/white brogue version of the classic table tennis shoe. Fred Perry 100th Anniversary Polo

2009 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Fred Perry, tennis champ and namesake of the venerable British label. To mark the occasion, Fred Perry is celebrating in its custom style, with the release of a collection of 100th Anniversary Polos. These shirts are the latest in a string of recent special edition polos, including collaborations with Raf Simons and Comme des Garcons. The look is similar to the classic design that has become the brand’s signature: knitted cotton pique polos in black, blue or white, with contrast trim in navy, red, green and champagne. The notable difference here that sets these apart from the rest is an oversized laurel leaf logo, embroidered above a 100 to mark the milestone. The shirt retails for $95, at select boutiques nationwide.

 

Raf Simons for Fred Perry Spring/Summer 2009

The Raf Simons for Fred Perry collection this coming Spring / Summer season takes cue from West African culture for their range. The brighter color range such as orange, blue, and honey hues bring about a more vibrant that fuses punk culture and African influences. THOF reports that the collection of 25 pieces includes the expected Perry polos and knits but also includes a variety of new goods including a Harrington slim fit jacket and slip-on loafers.
