Wrangler Blue Bell Jeans Spring/Summer 2010

wranglerfront

For their Spring/Summer 2010 Blue Bell Jeans collection, Wrangler enlisted the help of some well known names in the fashion world to capture the attitude of their looks. Morena Westerik and Petra van Bennekim, better known as Petrovsky & Ramone shot veteran model Tony Ward in what Wrangler describes “Distinctive Modern” and “Vintage Meets Preppy” pieces. Although a printed tee shirt from the collection reads: “Blue Bell: Designed by Cowboys for Cowboys”, this new advert campaign will likely appeal to those of us who’ve never been on a saddle or have ever enjoyed western movies. As did Levi’s widely successful and exclusive Capital E line, Wrangler’s Blue Bell Jeans will find its way into the closets of a younger market that may have needed to be reintroduced to the brand. Whether this was the intended goal or not, this look book was a job well done.

Madras is currently the pattern on everyone’s radar this summer season. To diversify your wardrobe brand wise, maybe hunting for a Japanese alternative to your current favorite labels could be a healthy shift. Japanese brand Motive for example currently has these madras shirts in their current Spring/Summer collection. One is a green pattern while the other is more of a colorful and playful bright pattern with pink, yellow, green, etc. If you’re determined enough, they are available now at Japanese retailer Potential Shop.

Sacai Man Fall/Winter 2009 collection.

sacai-fall-winter-2010-7

The slick, slim silhouette typically eats up much of today’s editorial ink, but in everyday life a slept-in slouchiness provides the cut and the cool many men find true comfort in. The Fall collection by Sacai Man totals up tonal layers of leggings, soft shorts, tees, and generous jackets for a look nearly as perfect for the sheets as it is for the streets. Perked-up pockets in sporty nylon with sleeves served up in nubby-ruffling add an urban-warrior edge to an otherwise ultra-chilled take on modern dressing.

Like Kodachrome slides from the most suave of weekend shore-visits, the Spring Summer 10 Lookbook from Hyden Yoo brings to light a collection of classics for tomorrow with references to yesterday. All-American blue chambray and red twill team with plaid-lined yachting parkas or dark and dashing cardigans. Slick but sporty, the upcoming Yoo collection aims for the elegant ease of JFK on a Hamptons holiday. Plan precisely what you’ll be packing for next year’s getaways year after the jump. Creative direction and photography for the shoot done by The Supervisory.

Based in Sweden, men’s fashion label NN.07 (No Nationality) started in 2007 dedicated to ‘a perfect fit, unique craftsmanship, and attention to detail’. Priding itself on designing classic original pieces as opposed to today’s hot trends, head designers Ulrik Pedersen and Victor Lindh stuck with this same vital formula for the autumn/winter season. A collection filled with smart pieces, NN.07’s latest offerings including knitted jumpers and cardigans, woolen trench coats, long-sleeved shirts, and their signature chino trousers to ensure the wearer an elegant addition to his wardrobe.

Post Overalls Engineer’s Jacket

The Japanese label’s roots stem from vintage workwear, military outfits, and outdoor-wear. This is the rugged appeal that Takeshi Ohfuchi tries to put across in his Post Overalls collections. The Engineer’s Jacket is the exemplary garment that holds true to this design philosophy. It has cemented its place in Post Overalls line since it’s been around since the brand’s inception. We saw them recently at the Capsule Trade Show in NYC, and they have been tight-lipped about when they will consider extending their stockists to include the US market. With production being stateside, they’ll be available here soon, but we have to be patient. Available now at Uncle Sam.

Mjolk Spring/Summer 2010 Collection

mjolk

This is a fascinating and well-thought out approach to a collection. Mjolk designer Lars Stoten has plucked inspiration from a 1950’s era that includes (from my thoughts) beatnick artisans on vacation perhaps. Loose fitting and relaxed pants have been seen more and more in collections, and that is refreshing to see a change in the climate. In seasons past, Stoten’s aesthetic always represented the best of Scandanavian fashion design, but his designs now are extending to different eras and regions which is a reflection of his growth. Some of the jackets, especially the suit jacket, still embody that Scandanavian aesthetic due to the architectural shape on the garments.
