Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Grande Complication Watch

The self-proclaimed masters of horology since 1875, Audemars Piguet’s Royal Oak Grande Complication definitively validates their assertion. Only a handful of watches in the world are in the same class in terms of movements. Taking approximately 6 months to manufacture by hand, The Grande Complication is constructed of 648 pieces moving in unison within a 44mm diameter case. Its name is derived from the daunting task of combining complex mechanisms such as a split-seconds chronograph, a minute repeater, and a perpetual calendar indicating day of the week, date, month, and the leap year cycle. The case and bracelet may be made of your choice of 18K gold or 950 platinum. Aesthetically, the icing on the cake is what made the Royal Oak collection famous, the octagonal bezel mysteriously secured by 8 hexagonal screws.
Truly a wearable modern engineering marvel, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Grande Complication retails around $702,000.00. For a greater appreciation of the complexity of this timepiece see the video after the jump of Audemars Piguet Artisans working on its assembly.
