MTV – I Want My MTV
MTV can’t really be considered Music Television anymore with all the obscure reality shows they keep on producing. In order to keep real music fans happy, MTV shifts their music focus on the internet with their new site “I Want My MTV.” The site is pretty much a collective of all the Music Videos ever aired on the channel broken down into genres. So if you want to reminisce and be obscure your own way by watching La Bouche’s “Be My Lover” video, go ahead, it’s there.

New Album: Evolver – John Legend
Grammy Award winner John Legend’s third album, “Evolver” continues his reign as one of R&B’s best artists. The new album features tracks with the likes of close friend Kanye West, Estelle, Brandy, and Andre 3000. The popular first single, “Green Light” with Mr. Andre Benjamin, was definitely one of the summer’s hits, which set the tone for the album. Evolver is definitely an upward progression of John Legend’s talent and staying power. You can purchase the album now at Amazon.
Jay-Z & Coldplay – Viva La Hova Mixtape
All this talk of “ColdJay” has inspired Mick Boogie and Terry Urban to release a new FREE mix entitled “Viva La Hova”. Everyone remembers the highly successful 2004 release “The Grey Album” by super producer Danger Mouse which blended The Beetles and Jay, this mix is composed by different producers most notably 9th Wonder and Cookin’ Soul, it’s definitely worth a listen. There is a full interview at Illroots.com with Mick and Terry that breaks down the whole project, get the mix via Frank151 here now.
Robocop – Kanye West
Image: The Sartorialist
808’s and Heartbreaks should win an award for having the most vocoder tracks used on album, that’s not T-Pain. Whether or not you’re tired of the vocoder voice, one thing’s for sure, it still sounds addicting on certain tracks. Kanye West’s new song “Robocop” steadily abuses the machine (in a good way). There’s a futuristic and retro vibe going on in this song, so it’s definitely worth the listen.
