Fresh from an inaugural trip to the Grammy’s, Bon Iver made a trip across the pond to record an extremely intimate set at AIR Studios in London. Highlighting tracks from their most recent effort (which took home the award for Best Alternative Album last Sunday, leading to much confusion around the Internet), band members Justin Vernon and Sean Carey played stripped down arrangements on dueling grand pianos, including a cover of Bonnie Raitt’s “I Can’t Make You Love Me,” which was featured as a B-side on the group’s single “Calgary” that was released last year. The set has more than enough of the intimate emotions that Bon Iver fans have come to know and love in their music, offering a perfect supplement to the extravagance of last week’s Grammy victory.

For a man as prolific as Jack White, the glaring omission of a solo album from his discography will soon be corrected with the upcoming Blunderbuss. The first track to drop is “Love Interruption”, a characteristically bluesy track with a darkly tinted, vintage skewed video featuring back-up vocalist Ruby Amanfu, clarinetist Emily Bowland and Brooke Waggoner on the also vintage Wurlitzer. The White directed clip does nothing but heighten the great expectations for his forthcoming release, due out on Third Man/Columbia records April 24. But let’s face it – it’s not like White has done anything bad in long time.

Aptly named Swedish DJ trio Swedish House Mafia have gone down under to team up with Australian electro duo Knife Party to create “Antidote”, a head-splitting, ear drum busting and dance inducing track accompanied by visuals to match. Shot like a first-person shooter video game, the clip follows a party-goer through a frantic night out which culminates with a robbery at a night club. Both the video and the track leave you no time for a breather either, as they both move quickly through a variety of exploding electronic noises and blending images. If you want to kick it up a notch, there is a NSFW version out there as well.

Arguably one of the most important bands of the past decade, LCD Soundsystem’s decision to break up after ten years of working together sent many fans into despair. As a final farewell however, the band played a farewell show in Madison Square Garden April, and allowed the concert to be filmed for the fans. The resulting documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits presents the bands final days, hours and life after the end of this fantastic band.

For documentary and music lovers alike, Shut Up and Play the Hits is one to rush out and see.

After a release as epic and tear-jerking as Danger Mouse’s collaboration with Italian composer Daniele Luppi “Rome”, it only make sense that the animated video for “Two Against One”, featuring the ever prolific Jack White, has the ability to tug at your heart strings. Directed by Chris Milk and animated by Anthony Francis Sheppard, the clip is only meant to be a prologue for what Milk hopes will turn into live-action theatrical project set to the incredible soundtrack of “Rome.” Meant to be the “fever dream” of the protagonist, these images only bear one difference: you won’t forget the incredible sights and sounds when you wake up in the morning.

Yeah, The Roots might still be the house band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and anger presidential candidate Michelle Bachman every once and a while, but they’re still pretty damn good at doing one thing: putting together some great music. “One Time”, the latest cut from their upcoming LP Undun, is not one to buck the trend – an excellent, smooth head-bobbing track anchored by an unmistakable ?uestlove beat. With some addition impressive work from collaborates Phonte & Dice Raw, let’s hope that “One Time” is a good indicator of the upcoming collection of tracks.

New York indie-darlings Cults apparently weren’t making a ridiculous joke when they talked about recording a rap mixtape based on their 2011 self-titled debut, and that’s certainly not a bad thing. The first track to surface is a remix of Bad Things featuring Indiana’s own Freddie Gibbs, adding some deliciously smooth verses over the dreamy guitars so signature to Cults’ sound. It might not seem right on paper, but this collaboration produces some excellent sounds of which we hope to hear more of soon.

Self-proclaimed former ‘skater punk’ Hanni El Khatib definitely has his fair share of unique characteristics: having a Middle Eastern and Filipino heritage, an interesting upbringing in San Francisco, and most importantly – his sound. OFIVE TV followed El Khatib on a recent promotional trip to Paris, putting together this well crafted interview that features some on-stage time as well as unprecedented insight into the musician’s world views. With an original sound and an even more original life, we know Hanni El Khatib will stick around and play more music for a while.

The five man group carries an easy going, down to earth sensibility, which translates seamlessly into their melodic songs. We had a chance to converse with Papu, Alberto, Marc, Sebastian, and Pablo about their style inspiration, creative process, and what club teams they support in Spain (hint: not one of them support their hometown club, Valencia C.F.).

While The Roots might spend their nights serving as the house band on Jimmy Fallon, they’ve spent their days recording their latest album, which is set to be released this year. Combining the always-stellar music of The Roots with the stark narrative structure comes the video for “Tip the Scale.” The song itself is great and the video only adds to the gritty message displayed in the song. “Scale” is the first song from The Roots soon to be released album Undun.
