Brothers is a compelling movie drama that could be worth your movie ticket purchase amongst the other holiday films coming out. The film revolves around the lives of siblings, Sam and Tommy, who become estranged when Sam (Tobey Maguire) is presumed dead while helicopter is shot down in the mountains of Afghanistan. In his absence, younger brother Tommy (Jake Gyllenhaal), just released from prison, starts to care for his wife, Grace (Natalie Portman) and their children. As Tommy and Grace begin to get attracted to eachother, their world is shaken up when they find out that Sam is not dead, but returns uncharacteristically withdrawn and volatile. Brothers, directed by Jim Sheridan, is set to release on December 4.

Jerry Bruckheimer has set out to try his hand at an adaptation to an old classic, except this classic is a video game; namely “Prince of Persia” circa 1989. The games popularity has been wide spread and has seen its fair share of remakes & sequels so why not a Hollywood version, right? With the help of Disney Pictures, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will hit theaters may 28th 2010 & stars Jake Gyllenhaall as the rouge prince & Gemma Arterton (the princess) who play guardians to an ancient relic with the power to reverse time from the forces of evil.

Michael Caine is a film icon we here at SwipeLife have much respect for. In his latest film, Harry Brown, Caine playes a retired marine living alone in a very dangerous housing estate. When his best friend and neighbor Leonard is murdered, Harry is ignited to seek justice his own way. It’s great to see Michael Caine in a film where guns and danger are involved as it reminds us of his on screen personas in the past in movies like Get Carter and the Italian Job. We’re almost sure this will be a good one. Opens in theaters November 11.

The HBO Imagine section of the site presents a novel approach to storytelling that has online viewers explore different angles of a featured story. Think of it as being able to see all the different perspectives occuring in real time. Clicking on the various sides of the cube allows viewers to see the other players involved in the story. It’s incredibly fun.

The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day, re-introduces the vigilante-assassin McManus family, who have been hiding, deep in isolated Ireland. When they learn their beloved priest has been killed by mob forces, the saints return to Boston to bring justice to those responsible. The sequel to the 1999 cult classic, The Boondock Saints, brings back the original cast of Sean Patrick Flanery, Norman Reedus and Billy Connolly as well as new additions Julie Benz and Peter Fonda. The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day releases on October 31.

Fashion designer Tom Ford makes his directorial debut in The Single Man. The film, which was shown at the Venice Film Festival to acclaimed reviews, stars Colin Firth and Julianne Moore. The story is adapted from work by Chris Isherwood, which is presented as a poem of a man who believes he’s living the last day of his life. John Kortajarena, an icon of Tom Ford ads, can also be seen with a brief cameo in the trailer.

A remake of the 1941 monster classic, The Wolfman stars Benicio Del Toro as Laurence Talbot, a nobleman who returns home after finding that his brother had been murdered. Talbot comes to find that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, which brings about a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector, Aberline (played by Hugo Weaving), to investigate. Directed by Joe Johnston, the film will also star Anthony Hopkins and Emily Blunt and is due out February 2010.

What was originally meant to be the video for prolific rapper, Kanye West’s “See You in My Nightmares”, eventually transformed into the 14 minute short film directed by Oscar nominated director Spike Jonze, We Were Once a Fairy Tale. Jonze, who’s directed cult classics such as Being John Malkovich, Adaptation and the upcoming Where The Wild Things Are has previously worked with West on the video for “Flashing Lights”. We Were Once a Fairytale will release on September 8th via iTunes and feature a cameo from skateboarder/blogger/Kanye’s stylist Ibn Jasper.

Based on the children’s book by Roald Dahl, Fantastic Mr. Fox is a new stop motion animation film directed by Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Bottle Rocket). The movie will feature the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Bill Murray. Fantastic Mr. Fox will first be screened at the London Film Festival and released in the U.S. on November 13.

Unveiled at this year’s Comic-Con, the teaser for the sequel to the 1982 cult classic, Tron. Tron Legacy stars the original film’s Jeff Bridges, reprising his role as Kevin Flynn and as his program counterpart inside the electronic world, Clu. Fans of the first film can expect a darker, more realistic feel in the upcoming sequel.

Set to release next year in Disney Digital 3D and IMAX 3D, the film’s director Joe Kosinsky, also revealed some concept art from the new film and a glimpse of the new Light Cycle.
