Playing off of the antique Volkswagens of days gone by comes the concept of the Facebook car, a playful riff on the social networking site that has all but defined the Internet for the past decade. Painted with the Facebook pallet of colors, a simple white and blue combination, the car is built around the idea that the automobile is its very own Facebook page, including having its own privacy settings (windows).

The cars are sure to please any antique collector with a hand in both the old and the new. For the rest of us however, the cars are simply something for us to laugh about and admire.

It’s not often that something of such high quality aligns itself with a great cause, but such is the case with the Scatto Fisso bicycle from Italian cycle shop Biascagne Cicli. Supported by a fresh from the grave Bottechia frame, the bike is fit with a slew of high-quality vintage parts that complement the over four decade old framework. But the best part about the cycle? All proceeds from the sale will go to Citta della Speranza, an association in Padua that supports research for children afflicted with one of the nastiest forms of cancer – leukemia. The eBay auction for the Scatto Fisso will run from Dec. 1 to Dec. 10, and with a starting bid of €222.22, every cent will take a step towards curing a dangerously fatal disease.

For those who say flashy items have no substance: look no further than the newest porteur bicycle from Yorkshire based design firm Detail to disprove your theory. Working from a reclaimed, 70′s era Carlton Frame, the firm stalked eBay in search of additional parts, including a beautiful copper riveted Brooks Swift seat and Kampool break pads. Add in some aluminum fenders, an elegant oak-paneled rack and leather cable straps and you’ve got a pretty impressive ragtag porteur bike. But the chrome isn’t the only shiny element: two vintage, LED retro-fitted lights on the front and rear provide some more flair without foregoing substance.

Probably best described as the Batmobile Bruce Wayne would drive to functions requiring a tuxedo, the Wiesman MF5 Black Bat avoids the cheesy incarnations of the Caped Crusader’s main mode of transportation, opting for a more refined look. Converted from a V10 MF5 Retro Roadster, the Black Bat looks positively threatening after being strapped with a coat of matte black paint and mounted on an equally dark set of BBS 20-inch alloys with polished rims. But the real super feature has to be the increased horsepower: up to a monstrous 600 from the original 507 on the original MF5. We have but only one qualm – Batman just doesn’t seem like the kind of guy that would mess around with a convertible.

Refereed to as “the Detonator,” this bike of the future from Daniel Simon integrates science fiction style with all the abilities of modern technology. The concept vehicle looks like it came straight of a Terminator film, the concept bike is sleek and looks to be able to move at amazing speeds. But don’t let the science fiction elements of the bike fool you. The concept is still under development and Simon even goes as far as to describe the bike as being meant for “human droids.”

But Jaguar has decided to forego convention, offering their top of the line coupe in a new ragtop version: the 2012 XKR-S Convertible. Strapped with a dangerously powerful 550 horsepower 5.0 liter V8, the XKR-S can rocket from 0-60 mph in only 4.2 seconds, making it the fastest drop top Jaguar has ever created. Add a new rear wing with a carbon fiber insert and seats trimmed in carbon leather, and you get a ridiculously fast car that let’s you go topless as well.

The 2012 Jaguar XKR-S Convertible will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week.

Making its debut at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, the Tourer Concept sports quite the angular chassis, providing a delightfully modern design. The beauty isn’t skin deep however, as a 1.6 4-cylinder turbo and an electric motor pair up to offer maximum fuel efficiency without losing too much power. With an interior akin to that of the bridge on Starship Enterprise, the Advanced Tourer Concept looks to be taking an interesting (and environmentally friendly) step towards the future.

Like a loaded baked potato is to a hungry man, the Royal H Cycles Philly Show Bike is a mouth-watering concoction of excellently designed details, minus the bacon bits. In addition to standard-challenging disc brakes, the classic frame includes a removable chain hanger, allowing the bike to be fit with storage racks The look of the bike is solid, employing the use of internally routed cables to create an uncluttered frame, only freeing up the eyes to view the wonderful paint job, complete with assistance from Massachusetts’ own Seven Cycles. Garnished with a dash of real gold leaf, this bike from Royal H really has it all.
