Bar Lounge Nisha Acapulco

One of two properties bearing the NISHA name, this new Acapulco bar and lounge is tailored to a younger demographic with more focus on nightlife than its forbearer. Designed by Mexico City-based Pascal Arquitectos, the bar’s interior is a contemporary interpretation of a nautical theme. Upon entering, visitors are met with curved, wood-clad ceilings and walls punctuated by porthole-shaped screens displaying underwater landscapes. The entry opens to a large central space delineated by intimate clusters of seating. The use of wood is continued on the walls and ceiling, and screens are creatively framed as if they were pieces of art. The use of colored accent lighting throughout the bar is also fundamental in creating the nautical, lounge atmosphere that NISHA purveys to its customers. Cool tones of light emanate from all corners, including beneath seating areas, from the base of walls, and below the bar. Once inside the bar, the only indication of the outside world is the view of a small patio, which serves to remind customers that they are not actually on a sea-faring vessel.

Richard Chai Fall 2009

With his first men’s show, Richard Chai established a distinctive handwriting. Chai’s fresh blend of sharp tailoring and rugged style was equally perfect for city or country.
Reverse seams subtly highlighted the tailoring, and the designer’s placement of zippers as embellishment throughout the collection was masterfully controlled. The utilitarian cut of the trousers, with a slightly dropped crotch, also felt refreshingly masculine, especially when tucked into a heavy boot. Chai’s strong background in knitwear is demonstrated by sweaters with boiled wools, plaids in washed cotton, textured cashmere cardigans and long johns.

3.1 Philip Lim Spring 2009

While other designers’ collections seem to come out monotone for a season like Spring, American designer Philip Lim delivers with a collection filled with vibrant earthy hues. Light jackets, multi-pocket shirt details, baggy cropped shorts all take shape and form with yellows, light blues, violets, and even pinks. Definitely a collection worth checking out for.

Aspen Social Club
New York City might not have the fresh air of the Colorado Mountains, but we now have something close enough. The Aspen Social Club is now open for drinks, and soon, some worthwhile eats. The restaurant and after hour spot is brought to you by High Bar and Amalia owner Greg Bier. Designed by Steve Lewis, the Aspen Social Club, brings you an unfamiliar mixture of what can be described as a luxury ski house vibe. Heavy on ceramic antlers dominating the ceiling, wood planks, vintage couches, and colorful etched glass fixtures, this restaurant/bar is definitely a new spot to put on your list when in town for some dinner.
