Eberhard & Co. Chrono Traversetolo Noir

Limited to just three hundred and thirty three pieces worldwide, the Chrono Traversetolo Noir is a special edition version of the standard Chrono Traversetolo chronograph from Eberhard, the Geneva-based Swiss watch maker.
Typical of the larger men’s watches offered by Eberhard, the Chrono Traversetolo Noir’s case measures 43mm in diameter and its masculine appearance is further emphasised by Eberhard’s special patented DLC-Dianor (Diamond Like Coating) black carbon coating. Tougher and more scratch-resistant than the more common PVD treatment this should mean that the Noir edition lives up to it’s name for many years to come. The sleek look is finished off with a black dial and contrasting red detailing and a black caoutchouc strap.
The Noir is fitted with the same Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement as the standard Chrono Traversetolo and the mechanism is visible through a sapphire crystal glass on the back of the case. The rotor is decorated in 18ct. gold with the Côtes de Genèves and the old symbol of Eberhard watches, the letter “E” on a shield.

Borsalino Helmets

When bespoke hatmaker Borsalino first went into business in 1857, they saw the hat as something that was both useful and ornamental. Luckily for us, these masters of the fedora have launched a terrific line of helmets. These brilliant pieces of headgear clearly speak to Borsalino’s Italian heritage, and while the designs themselves are extremely clever, the use of unique materials and classic colors should not be overlooked either.
Nautica NMX 300

Nautica is known for designing, manufacturing and marketing sportswear, outerwear, robes and other quality men’s activewear. However, with the recent boom in the world of watches, they apparently have decided to make a splash of their own. Drawing inspiration from vintage, early 1900’s deep sea diving helmets, Nautica has released a fresh collection of men’s watches with its NMX 300 series. Just like the classic diving helmet, the NMX 300 features a protective metal cage over the case of the watch as the signature element of this design. Two parallel cage bars frame the dial and extend beyond the case, becoming the lugs that integrate into the resin strap. The screw down crown displays a red indicator through a window on the stem when the crown is screwed down tight into position, adding a touch of authenticity. NMX 300 is available in both a Japanese chronograph movement and a striking three-hand date version. Each model features a steel case with titanium frame, luminous hands and markers, and 200M water resistance. Both styles are available in circular, hand-brushed steel or in black ionic plating over steel. Straps are available in black, red and blue polyurethane with a bold Nautica logo and a hidden comfort feature of cross-hatching design on the back portion of the band. A full green luminous dial is available in the date version. NMX 300 collection is now available, retailing between $300 – $400.
Hyunsuk’s Military Watch Gallery

Informative watch forums are hard to come by. Hyunsuk, an avid military watch collector, is here to help. Hyunsuk started his Gallery to present comprehensive records of the watches he’s compiled over the years. His reviews give plenty of details; ranging from the history of each watch, the soldiers, if any, who wore them, and the occasional field modifications performed to adapt the watches to their unique mission environments. If you are interested in having your military watch listed in his gallery, Hyunsuk is open for any donations. This Gallery is constantly updated so it may behoove all of you watch aficionados to bookmark this site.
One interesting watch Hyunsuk features in his Gallery is the Adanac Military Diver/Navigator’s Watch. According to Hyunsuk, in the late eighties, both the USAF and Canadian Armed Force had issued these tough looking Adanac watches to their service members. The one pictured in his review was issued by USAF in 1988. It’s a fascinating watch because it has “Adanac” written on the dial but the case is signed “Gallet”. In addition to that detail, the watch was actually produced under government contract by Marathon Watch Co. based in Ontario, Canada. The watch has an unusual 0-11 marked bidirectional bezel, a screw-down crown, fixed bars that takes a 20mm black nylon band, and is water resistant to 660 feet, which qualifies it as a military diver’s watch.
