Kate Moss’ early photographs in her modeling career will be up for sale in order to raise funds for Corrine Day. Corrine Day might not be a familiar name to most, but in the world of photography in the UK, she is quite the icon. She’s also been credited as the person who discovered Kate Moss. Unfortunately, Corrine Day is battling cerebral cancer and is in need of a treatment which will cost over £100,000. As a way to raise awareness and money for her treatment, Corinne’s friends have launched the new project called, Save The Day. Save The Day aims to put out these limited edition photos of Kate Moss each month for sale to raise funds. These are the very first photos of Kate Moss ever, some were never published and cost £100.

If interested in purchasing the photos or would like to in any way help with Save the Day, you can email emily@premieremodelmanagement.com or call + 44 0 2073330888

When Sean Carasso visited the Congo on service trips for Invisible Children and TOMS (the charitable shoe company) he witnessed the horror of imprisoned children. The children, escaped from fighting for rebel forces, were now being held captive, and tortured, by government soldiers. That night Sean wrote an impassioned entry into his journal, which he later sent to friends, that included descriptions of the children being forced to the frontlines of war, armed with nothing but a whistle. Wrote Sean, “With Falling Whistles, their only choice is to feign death or face it.”

When friends began to ask what they could do to help, Sean and a partner formed Falling Whistles, an organization whose profits in the sale of symbolic whistles goes to “restoring the lives of war-effected children in the Democratic Republic of Congo.” To join their efforts, one can order a whistle from fallingwhistle.com.

Designed by Veronique Nichanian the ties will feature a special pocket to hold a condom. It also features a tiny red bow on the reverse side of the tie.
“Know that America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity, and that we are ready to lead once more.” – Barack Obama (Inauguration Speech)

We here at SwipeLife headquarters have been switching our time between posts and watching the live coverage of Barack Obama’s Inauguration in Washington D.C. With all the inspiring images, comments, and speeches, we wanted to take a turn from the norm and do a little something different. This post is just a collection of our own thoughts accompanied by some of today’s images (courtesy of AP Photos, NY Times, Flickr). These are basically just words on what today means to us here at SwipeLife. Please proceed after the jump to read our little feature for the day. Also, if you want to respond with your own thoughts, please tell us what this day means to you in our comment section.

Obama represents a step forward, the great diversity that exists in our nation, and hope for future generations. We would be naive to think that everything will change overnight, at least we can say we are headed in the right direction. I have always been proud of my country but today I hold my head a little higher and a little prouder. – Paul Castillo (Managing Editor)

President Barack Obama is a great inspiration for me and a role model for today’s generation. The fate of America is resting on his shoulders, but seeing how he can move the people to listen and work alongside him, I am confident he will succeed. President Obama embodies the hopes of everyone who wants something better in their life. All you need is for one man to awaken the world, and I know Obama’s presidency will create a positive effect for generations to come. Congrats Mr. President and I wish him nothing but the best! – Dresden Baluyot (Head Contributor)

Following his inauguration, 44th U.S. President Barack Obama will face the tall order of restoring a marred global image, a destitute economy, and democracy (”order”) in a battered Iraq and its surrounding Arab nations. This does not include the myriad of domestic issues that must be addressed his next terms. The agenda laid-forth is hopelessly lengthy and President Obama’s presence in the White House will be subject to
review for years to come. Even former President Bush’s legacy is yet to be properly assessed. We’ll see as the dust settles and clears from this Middle East debacle (doesn’t bode too well for him at this juncture).

I am forever a cynic when it comes to politics, but I’ve become relatively optimistic amidst these crippled times. And that is because I believe that we do have someone in office that has great character and resolve to face these problems – at very least, he’s competent and I think that’s a far departure from his predecessor. That cool and collected demeanor may be valuable when forging the broad political consensus that is essential to finding solutions to our nation’s problems. – Jason Rodriguez (Head Editor)

For those burdened and beaten by our country’s current challenges, Barrack Hussein Obama’s Inauguration is an optimistic sign that better times are on the horizon. What I got from our 44th President’s speech is that he is more than ready to take on the these challenges. Our current economic crisis, the war in Iraq, healthcare costs, environmental concerns and other foreign issues are just some of the priorities we need to tackle as a nation. Obama is more than determined however, as he boldly and enthusiastically states, “problems are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America — they will be met.” I believe that President Obama will bridge the gap between our nation’s hopes and our determination to grab hold of the solutions to most of country’s problems. His ability to move and inspire is just half of the equation, the other half is up to him and to us collectively to actually make the real change we’ve all been longing for. - Felson Sajonas (Chief Editor)

The novel and movie “Pay it Forward” features a nobel concept, do a favor for someone, and in return they must also perform a favor for another person. The creator of ARK (Act of Random Kindness) Cameron, has a similar philosophy, every time you wear a piece of ARK clothing you have to perform one act of random kindness. Buy someone a coffee, give up your seat on the bus, help a drunk home are just a few examples Cameron gives on the company website. Purchase a shirt and join the ARK movement by heading over to their webshop.

Kiva is the world’s first person-to-person micro-lending website that allows people from anywhere to loan money to entrepreneurs in developing countries. Micro-lending is a great concept because it helps people build the proper capital to start or grow their business. Most of the time, meager start ups such as someone’s small tailoring business, bakery, or spare parts operation fail because they lack the necessary monetary funds to move forward. As a way to help better the situations of these individuals, Kiva has set up this loan program. You can use either paypal or credit card, and Kiva will pass the funds to the selected person you want to help. Loan teams can also be built in order to loan more money to others.

It was a historic moment last night as Barack Obama became our 44th President of the United States. The campaign was fought hard by both candidates, but America proved their choice to be Obama. As President-Elect, Obama stood at Grant Park in Chicago in front of 125,000 people and delivered a very inspiring victory speech for all of America.

“If there is anyone out there who doubts that America is a place where anything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer,” Obama declared.

McCain’s Consession speech was also gracious as he addressed his followers and congratulated Barack Obama. Regardless of the loss, McCain made a call to come together and bridge the separations and put aside differences. With his utmost love for this country, McCain declared his great support for his new president Barack Obama. McCain Consession speech after the jump.
