Read’s Clothing Project comes from Read Wall whose partnership with Books for Africa has allowed him to mix his philanthropic ideals with his passion for making clothes. For every purchase, the Read Clothing Project gives a book to a child in need of education, “providing tools of empowerment to the next generation of parents, teachers, and leaders in Africa.” With a Fall 2011 release of American preppy styles, Read’s Clothing Project now hopes to make a substantial contribution to the educational efforts in Africa.

Heal Manila is an organization founded by young professionals of Filipino roots dedicated to give back to their home country by organizing fundraisers aimed to empower those who who need it most. Tomorrow night the New York based organization is holding a cocktail benefit in order to raise money but to connect all supporters to sustain a foundation of awareness in the community.

Alina Villasante’s work cought my attention at a recent trip. Not only her slogans such as “ love is not something you look for… love is something you become!”  but her fashion brand, peace love world captivated my attention. Although the designer creates eyecatching designs for the whole family, she makes rugged, comfort and elegance fit for the male globe trotters as well.

I picked up a couple of her designs. The feel of the fabric feels so soft against my skin- it was wicked! I also got several thumbs up at a recent night out in New York City. Although sporting slogans may seem elementary at times, we can get away expressing ourselves and how we feel through our clothes… there’s freedom of speech anyway.

What gives a better feeling is to know that a brand like this gives something back to the community and to the rest of the world. The organization is active with relief, i am hope, peace for tots and don’t text and drive projects. Throughout 2011, Peace Love World will give a new tee to a child in need in places like Haiti and America’s shelters- the buy one, give one project.
