Netherlands-based photographer Hotze Eisma has been working for nearly two decades to “chronicle inspirational one-of-a-kind homes, people, and places for the world`s finest lifestyle magazines.” Eisma’s portfolio has been developed through professional commissions and his own personal travels. They include a variety of different styles, locales, and subject matter. Carefully considered lighting and a candid tendency allow Eisma to truly capture the mood of his subjects, whether live or inanimate.

Project Origins comes from the collective known as Make Ink. Make Ink specializes in arts based branding projects such as recent works they’ve done with Levi’s and Adidas. Their newest work is a spoof Adidas campaign highlighting the heritage and history of the ‘brand with three stripes.’ According to Nick Hussey, Director of Make Ink: ‘Project Origins’ is a concept created by us at Make Ink to test the online environment. We specialise in the subversion of branding through art… and like everybody else, we love dinosaurs”

terrestrial vertebrates we add wit and strengthen the brand in the
mind of consumers.

The campaign instills, and plays on the heritage of the brand whilst
adding an interesting angle. This is sure to attract attention from
existing market segments as well as attracting a new, more visually
aware, creative audience.

As well as standard online advertising utilising social networking
routes by inviting users to befriend these extinct animals adds
another avenue for promotion… It creates an element of fun and
interaction with this subversion of the Adidas brand through art.

The art of Mexican born Ivan Puig mixes a bit of optical fun with a simple yet dramatic flair. His work and imagery gives its viewers a “scratch your head” moment at first viewing, but as a whole, one can truly appreciate the creativity and subtle poetry he’s infused to all his works.

Kingston University graduate Matthew Cook is described as one of the busiest illustrators of his generation. This is due to being commissioned early in his career to show his vision on various art projects.

His work has the simplicity of watercolor paintings but his choice of inspiration adds depth to the art, its somewhat similar in the design of the art work done for the game series Metal Gear Solid; especially his depictions of war.

The cougar trend grows as Photographer, Tony Notarberardino, re-creates scenes from the classic film “The Graduate” in his series of film remakes in still form. The set was carefully orchestrated to resemble the original “Graduate” set and models were coached to portray an attitude that closely brought back the sense of presence in the film.

Within 500 stunning pages, the National Geographic Image Collection features the best of the magazine’s 120 year photographic history. Selected from 11.5 million photos, the collection showcases photography both iconic and rare, from glass plate autochromes to contemporary digital images. A corresponding exhibition runs at National Geographic in Washington, D.C., through April 12, 2010.

London’s Tate Modern, assembles together several of the biggest names in the modern art world for one of the highest profile exhibitions in recent memory. Taking inspiration from iconic pop artist Andy Warhol’s famous quote “good business is the best art”, ‘Pop Life’ is an unmissable showreel of work created by an eclectic mix of the biggest names in modern art, featuring pieces by the likes of Jeff Koons, Tracey Emin, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami, Richard Prince, and Keith Haring among others, and runs until the 17th of January, 2010.

Artist Sergei Sviatchenko has a very interesting project going that expresses the subtleties and detail of fashion through carefully executed snapshots of individuals. In the photos, all taken by Sviatchenko, faces are rarely seen and the clothes the subjects are wearing take over the frame, concentrating on every part of the look. You can tell the inspiration is vintage, and some of the photos appear lifted from dad’s high school photo album. The work is unique and we can’t wait to see more. Like a photographic version of ISO50, Kalle Gustafsson’s work borrows the same tones and color balance of a certain strand of 70’s art, but interprets that aesthetic through a modern lens (literally). While the subjects featured in his work have a somewhat posh veneer, Kalle’s Photoshop post-production gives the image a warmly desaturated, level-adjusted (meaning richer blacks) quality.
