French photographer Theo Gosselin has an incredible gift for capturing something so fleeting – the innocence and power of unbridled youth. In his newest collection of distinctive photos, Young Free and Immortal, Gosselin takes pictures that capture the ever ambiguous concept of fun with a style that only invokes pure jealousy in the viewer. From the warmth captured from a sunrise on the beach to the traveling musicians camped out on the street, Gosselin manages to show the essence of youth in an old world, a world ready to bend around the desires of a younger generation.

Graphic designer Josip Kelava’s latest project, Heroes & Villains is a tantalizing pop art reminder of the modern culture. By using pictures of villains such as the antagonist of the Alien films, Kelava is able to evoke a terrifying symbolism to go with each character. In comparison, his pictures of the heroes, whether they be Master Chief of Halo fame or Batman, evoke the heroism that has made these characters so endearing to audiences over the years.

Filmed with keen interest and ample amounts of zeal from director Danny Cooke, Upside Down, Left to Right: A Letterpress Film is a nostalgic tribute to the often long forgotten printing press. The short film profiles the dying breed of the one unstoppable industry by showing viewers the printing press still kept up at Plymouth University. By taking viewers back into a history lesson about the importance of the printing press, Cooke is able to make a loving and nostalgic short film that sweeps viewers away in just under eight minutes.

Born in Francavilla, Italy, Lucio Antonucci discovered his talents for hat making at an early stage in his life. After graduating from college with a degree in communications and graphic design, Lucio landed one of his first jobs as a photographer for a company that produced hats. While standing behind the lens, Lucio’s creativity was always in full swing. He admits to coming up with different designs, ways of enhancing the hats he was shooting from the moment he began working. All of his bottled up creativity finally came to the forefront and Lucio eventually became the company’s lead designer. After a successful 10 year stint with the company and numerous runway shows under his belt, Lucio decided to start his own company and in 1988 he opened his very own atelier.

Lucio continued to learn the art of hat making as his company was growing. In the early 90′s, he began to learn the trade from some experienced female hat makers. With this newfound tutelage, he expanded on his own designs and creations, becoming interested in creating hats that maintained a balance between a formal and modern structure. Lucio is a real inspiration and hopefully our photo diary captures his talent as well as his passion for hat making.

Simen Johan’s latest set of photos put characteristically intense animals into a calm, serene perspective. These photos highlight the fun and humanistic side of animals in the wild, whether it be while in their natural environment or put into a distinctly human situation. Through Johan’s collection of photos, we see that these animals, drastically different from us in lifestyles and behavior, might still not be that far apart from us after all.

The result is an innovative collection of menswear photography keeps things interesting without crossing the thin line into pure abstraction. This collection of images for spring/summer 2012 are no different, highlighting some excellent pieces with unmatched vibrancy. Vintage striped prep-school ties offer a main source of stylistic flair, accompanied by a variety of sportcoats and cutaway collar shirts that bring the looks together with a delicate touch. Classics like sand-suede desert boots and thick-rimmed glasses give this collection an old-school appeal only elevated by the clever nature of the photographs.

Sure, you might have rung in the new year with a “crazy” party, complete with its own set of incredible feats that were probably ill-informed. Regardless of how (un)memorable your first moments of 2012 may have been, they have absolutely nothing on the group of thrill-seekers that decided to base jump from what looks like a cruise ship on top of a hotel. Their extreme exploits are chronicled in this beautiful film from filmmaker Snow R. Shai, which expertly sets up the scene with some breathtaking shots of the Marina Bay Hotel in Singapore, building tension until this literal leap of faith. Throw in some absolutely terrify POV shots from the jumpers, and this stunning clip is guaranteed to make you afraid of heights.

By trying her hand at innovative forms of animal art, Zoe Williams recent exhibit in the Ghost Gallery in Seattle show’s the evolution of three-dimensional art through Williams eyes. Specializing in such animals as a rhino and rabbits among others, William’s is able to give her work a deeper meaning by literally bringing the subject right out of the context and constraints of the frame.

The artist, who recently relocated to Seattle, is one to look out for in the future due to her use of alternative art forms.
