Kiryuyrik – Fall/Winter 2009 Collection

kirfront

Kiryuyrik’s designer Masakatsu Takaynagi uses several different textures and patterns to create an overall brooding theme to his Fall and Winter 2009 collection. Simple patterned plaids and checks are layered with coats in leather and sheen finishes and accesorized with fur shawls. The kilt is frequently visited in several looks. The atypical cuts of the jackets and coats put Masakatsu’s use of creativity at the forefront among some of his other Japanese contemporaries. Much of this structuring and dramatic effect is attributed to his time spent working under famed Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto during the early years of his career. Some of these sensibilities were translated into his works when he struck out on his own with Kiryuyrik.

Mjolk – Spring/Summer 2009 Collection

mjolkfront

Mjolk designers Lars Stoten set out to do a very chic and restrained collection for their Spring/Summer 2009 lineup. Restrained relative to past seasons because they usually incorporate very sculptured and draped fabrics into their looks along with bold colors and always some askew or rebellious styling. These looks are more apparent in their knitwear from previous Winter seasons.

In the Spring/Summer 2009 collection, there still remains those staple pieces that look minimal, but there is an elevated and modern production through the use expert tailoring. Solid colored button-ups, blazers and shorts are constructed of linen, flannel and denim chambray. This all makes for a very practical chic during the summer months. The online store, Bespoke Boutique, is a distributor of the Mjolk line.

The BauBike

baubikefront

This is seriously cool. Perhaps, you don’t find it “cool,” but it’s undoubtedly interesting from a design standpoint. The BauBike is inspired by Bauhaus design which is premised around combinding geometric shapes such as squares and triangles. The clean lines and raw materials give to an industrial look of the bike that successfully fuses design and art.

The open-end piece above the back wheel, offers the possibility to customize the function of the bike to whatever need you may have. The different accessories can be placed in the tube and can easily be changed if needed.

For purchases, visit the BauBike website and contact by e-mail.
