British men’s fashion label, Oliver Spencer, have several new looks from their Fall and Winter collection circulating on many blog networks. The tailoring and construction stand as a benchmark of quality among other British brands.

His latest collections, which he states as “Man at Sea,” reference a rugged, yet elegant approach to modern city fashion. There are several traditional and utilitarian inspirations and fabrics used to redefine some classic garments. The styling featured in our selected images showcase the masculine identity Spencer defined by using crumpled suiting, layering and use of heavy knitwear.

Available exclusively from Oliver Spencer’s stores in New York, London and online, as well as the Monocle shops in LA and London.

Supreme Sagamore Parka

supreme-sagamore-parka-main

For their Fall 2009 collection, the New York label incorporates the lifestyle of an outdoor sportsman into their line. The popular Sagamore Parka may strike a resemblance to items from outdoor clothier companies such as L.L. Bean or Eddie Bauer. The Sagamore is a waterproof cotton ventile with an all cotton lining. It’s pretty standard in style and function with four front utility pockets, combination zipper and snap front closure and adjustable hood and cuffs. But it’s simplicity in utility and wearability that is the allure of this pioneer in streetwear. That is why Supreme still remains a premier label in the subculture. Available at Supreme’s online shop.

Ralph Lauren – Spring 2010

ralph-lauren-spring-summer2010-main

As shown in seasons past, Ralph Lauren incorporates the unique lifestyles from all of his heralded lines: The distinguished and luxurious Purple Label, the sophisticated and urban Black label and the classic American and sporty Polo Blue label. Each are laudable if examined independently, but one could arguably choose to sort the lines in a hierarchy (if by sophistication or price).

There was expertly tailored suiting for the Purple Label noting the sleek, black, 3-piece suit with paisley tie as an example. The overall silhouette is slim and features slim lapels. The addition of the vest and pocket square also heighten the elegance of the entire look. Another standout look is the navy pinstriped button-up with matching pants. This is sportswear for the Purple Label, but it’s the apparent fitted shape and refined tailoring which distinguishes it from the other Lauren lines.

Spurr – Spring 2010

Simon Spurr showcased a very polished and tailored collection for men’s sportswear at New York’s Fashion Week. His Spurr collection encompassed a complete wardrobe featuring slim knitwear and button-up sport shirts, outerwear in various materials such as leather and suede, denim and suiting that was casual and formal. This is a line that would translate well into the major public retail stores – a compliment, I assure you. The color story was overall neutral with the exception of some slacks and shirting in pink or peach and some of the yellow knitwear.

Post Overalls – Fall/Winter 2009 Jackets

post-overalls-jackets-main

Post Overalls is helmed by Takeshi Ohfuchi, and the primary design idea for his label is deeply rooted in vinate work clothes. It is his reverence to the old-world craftsmanship and industrial aesthetic of the Machine Age in 1920’s America that evokes a romanticism and masculinity in all of his pieces.

Images of his latest jackets have surfaced on sites like SlamXHype which display this great character. In the images following the jump, you’ll be able to have a look at the Engineer Jacket (a Post Overalls / Post O’alls mainstay), Sea-Cruz Parka and Engineer Jacket2 XX. It’s details such as the stitching for the pockets and the buttons that standout.

Polo Flannel Mohawk Jacket

The Polo Flannel Mohawk Jacket exudes the prestige of the Ralph Lauren label by incorporating some luxurious materials. The coat is constructed of soft, grey heathered wool with a contrasting chocolate corduroy collar. The inside featues plaid lining and suede-trimmed pockets. The construction is also superb as the waistband in the back gives a slim silhouette. It’s intriguing how there are certain elements of an elegant long coat and a casual jacket that are fused to make this such a wonderful piece.

The Flannel Mohawk Jacket is available online at the Polo site for $1595 USD.
