The simple yet flexible Counterpoise Lamp by SAIF is based on the traditional Japanese bent wood craft called Magewappa. The main feature of the lamp is its being flexible and its capability to contort and be adjusted to become either a desk or table lamp. With just a few steps, it can be easily raised or lowered to fit the preference of the user. It utilizes the cantilever approach to lock it in certain positions via gravity. It comes with a round base in matte black and matched with the wood/cork lamp that keeps the hardware out of sight.
SAIF is a Bangalore based designer who finished his training in architecture from the RV School of Architecture in 2010. He was also active in the mechanical department of Formula SAE-Racing where he learned most of his expertise in technical designs. He eventually learnt wood working as well and finished his internship at D+A Architects.
