Tom Hardy co-stars with the late James Gandolfini as cousins from Brooklyn that have links to the underworld. Both run a bar that’s used as a money drop for local criminals. The plot thickens as the bar is held up, and the dropped stash is nearly depleted. The duo is now confronted with the imminent consequences of their employers and the evaluation of their endeavor in all of this moving forward. Noomi Rapace also joins the cast as Hardy’s girlfriend in the movie.
The movie is directed by Academy Award nominee, Michael Roskam, and the screenplay is from crime-drama author, Dennis Lehane who has penned other famous novels adapted into movies such as “Mystic River,” “Gone Baby Gone,” and “Shutter Island.” “The Drop” is based on Lehane’s short story “Animal Rescue.”
“The Drop” hits theaters on September 19. Check out the trailer above. Much respect to our fellow Jersey native, James Gandolfini. R.I.P.
