Atlas Brew Works of Washington, DC opened for business in September 2013. The brewery can be found a mile away from the Union Market and a street apart from Gallaudet University.
It is the product of all efforts of DC homebrewer Justin Cox who is also the 2010 DC State Fair Homebrew champion and Will Durgin who is an expert and professional brewer too. The company premiered with three kinds of beers: the Rowdy, District Common and the NSFW. We wanted to highlight these amazing brews. The Rowdy is a 6.2% ABV rye beer which gives off a creaminess mouth feel and subtle bitter and tart notes. The District Common is a California-style beer which is light and golden in color, clean and carbonated; giving a refreshing but dry finish. The NSFW (sounds dangerously appealing) is a powerful 9.2% ABV American black ale is a dark, chocalate-looking ale that has sweet and earth scents and tastes that marry perfectly together. Check them out if you’re ever in their neighborhood.
