Whenever a designer unveils a new collection, there’s always heightened anticipation about what it will feature. Givenchy just released their 2014 Spring/Summer Campaign, and it stars an unexpected bit of neo-soul.
With creative direction by Riccardo Tisci and noted fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, one would expect an amazing eye into the latest styles from Givency. What they might not have expected is that the clothes weren’t the only stars of the shoot. The models for the shoot included Dominik, Asia Chow, Maria Borges, and Eboni Riley, but the unexpected star was the Queen of Neo-Soul, Erykah Badu. What this campaign captures is not just that innovation can highlight classic styles, but the idea that the clothes and the person who wears them are meant to highlight each other.
