One of my favorite showings thus far, Lou Dalton had a mix of themes in his Fall/Winter 2014 showing. What stood out to me was the strong, military influence of half of the looks. There was no subtlety in the military-styling and construction for that portion of the show. The excellent outerwear collection included belted trench coats and bombers. The use of corduroy was a pleasant, contrasting texture on the military shirting. The dominant colors were the tans, browns and olives. The military portion transitioned into a suiting section which incorporated a lot of the solid color story previously. The suiting portion of the show was highlighted by these interesting mock-zip shirting made from the same suiting wool materials. Then a few casual looks with fair-isle sweaters and acid-wash jeans hit the runway to really mix it up. I’m perplexed by the story, but I’m sure I’ll find an explanation elsewhere online. But like I said, I really enjoyed the looks from the Lou Dalton presentation.
