Every athlete dreams of is spending their life doing what they love and reaching the pinnacle of his or her sport. After a few near misses, Danny Davis achieved that dream by winning gold at the 2014 Winter X Games Snowboard SuperPipe.
Danny Davis is a long-time professional snowboarder. With Rookie of the Year awards in 2006 from Transworld Snowboarding and Snowboarder magazine, he started his career with some high expectations. While winning several other competitions, success at the X Games has always eluded him, coming up empty having appeared at six previous X Games. On Sunday night, all that changed, as he not only qualified for the Snowboard SuperPipe finals for the first time, but won gold with a score of 95. In the process, he bested other great riders like Louie Vito and Greg Bretz. His only regret was that perennial winner Shaun White did not compete, as he is preparing for the Sochi Olympics. Despite being unable to compete with the legend, all in all, he was more than happy with the win.
