The Costume National lines usually conjure up images of minimalism. This time around, Ennio Capasa still embraced those clean silhouettes of seasons past, but really broke up the monotone gray and black looks with bright punches of colors mid-show. There were oxblood reds, burnt oranges, cobalt blues, and that plum-colored blazer. Some of the trends highlighted in other showcases also made their way into Capasa’s lineup including turtlenecks, ombre color patterns, and motocross-style outerwear. I think what separates this show from others so far is the use of materials as seen in the pony skin, mohair, felt, and faux-fur (which is pretty unexpected from Costume National). I applaud that Capasa attempted to not do the expected for Costume National.
