If you’re a Corvette fan, you can’t wait for news about Chevrolet’s next offering. Well wait no more, as Chevy boasts the 2015 Corvette Z06 as being “Located at the intersection of Le Mans and the Autobahn.”
The Z06 is built on basically the same frame as the Corvette Racing CR7.R, but to be ready for any road or track you encounter, it features a supercharged 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that produces a minimum of 625 horses and 635 pound-feet of torque. With all that power, it also helps to have Chevy’s Active Fuel Management to give you reasonable gas mileage. You also have your choice of the brand new 8L90 eight-speed automatic transmission or the seven-speed manual, with Chevy stating there is no performance difference between them. The rest of the car emphases both looks and function. With the aggressive look you’d expect, the car features a front mesh grille grill to provide the engine the airflow it needs and the car is wider overall, including wider tires, to provide some stability to match the engine’s power. For even more downforce, the Z06 has a front splitter, a rear spoiler, and spats in the front wheel arches in the Performance Package. If that’s not enough, Chevy clearly thought about the driver, as the cockpit allows you to choose between a GT or Competition Sport seat and has a flat-bottomed steering wheel.
The Z06 doesn’t go on sale in early 2015, but feel free to start talking about it right now. So does the Z06 get your engine going? Tell us yes, no, and why in the comments below.
