With a replacement for the Gallardo on the horizon, a certain level of expectation attached to the newcomer to the Lamborghini family. Based on its latest press release, Lamborghini is officially welcoming the Huracan to the family. By apparently taking what’s made Lamborghini successful in the past, but bringing them to new heights, here are 3 reasons to look forward to the new Huracan:
That Familiar Lamborghini Style
One of the things we’ve come to expect from a Lamborghini is a smooth, sleek, and stylish look. The Huracan is no exception, as it has that familiar wedge shape, but with a more low slung look and lights borrowed from the Lamborghini Reventon.
Still Pushing the Performance Envelope
The other area of expectation is performance, and this is where the Huracan steps up. With its powerful 5.2 liter, direct-injected V10 engine, the Huracan generates 413 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. What does that all mean? It means 62 mph in 3.2 seconds, 124 mph in 9.9 seconds, and a top speed of 201 mph. If that doesn’t scream performance, I don’t know what does. And to top it all off, Lamborghini has embraced environmental responsibility by netting 18.5 miles per gallon.
Evolving a Great Tradition
The Huracan has also brought the Lamborghini into the future by evolving what made the Gallardo so special. It has three driving modes, each set up to optimize the car to certain conditions. Its driving dynamics system allows you to choose from the Strada (street), Sport, and Cosca (race) modes, all through a convenient steering wheel-mounted switch. What also comes standard are carbon-ceramic brakes, with variable-ratio steering and magnetic ride control among the Huracan’s options.
It won’t make its official debut until March at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but from what we know now, Lamborghini certainly made efforts to live up to expectations. Be on the lookout for more news until then, but for now, get a better look at the Huracan on Lamborghini’s website.
