The transformation of a garage into a two story home is unbelievable, but it was perfectly doable for Hutchison & Maul Architecture. The talented architects have renovated the 2 car garage in Seattle into a pop-out studio fully equipped with a loft space that oversees the main level of the house. It wasn’t easy, but after drilling hundreds of holes into the structurally unsound building and demolishing the garage altogether, a new artist studio came about. A courtyard space was added and the pre-existing farmhouse serves as an outdoor living room for the family. The space that was once a garage is now a convenient entryway for the studio. The home, which is estimated to be around 450 square feet, provides ample working space for a husband, wife, and two children.
