Knitwear specialist, John Smedley and Umbro Tailored collaborate to reproduce kits worn by Team GB athletes during the 1948 Olympics in London. Poverty struck due to post-war Britain, yet the team did not let us down with its stunning outfits. The two specialists thus chose to recreate these classics. Umbro offered a running vest and track sweater that can represent the team, but with a modern twist. The vest became the Tangeru shirt, consisting of three buttons, crew collar, Brit stripes, 30 gauge ecru Sea Island cotton and a black panel where the team patch would have been placed. The sweater, a lightweight navy 24 gauge knit, features ribbed collar and cuffs and a hidden commemorative number in the back. Both pieces were traditionally made, while maintaining the beauty of vintage sportswear.
