Florence + the Machine released a new music video for ‘Breaking Down’ and the theme is relatable for all groups of friends. It’s summer and the only things on the agenda is to hang out, go on road trips, and create unforgettable memories. All of these are captured in the new video as the band travels from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and back. Surprisingly, the video starts with an American flag pinwheel, indicating the heavy American imagery that is about to happen. We see palm trees, people throwing around a football in a swimming pool, Mardi Gras Indians and the spectacular fountains at the Bellagio hotel in Vegas where the band makes frequent appearances. The video is washed out as if it was taken with Instagram to give it a sense of nostalgia, but the American iconography is strange given that the band is British. However, overall the video came out well and has recorded memories that any groups of friends would make over the summer.
