Yellow Ostrich’s “The Shakedown” music video displayed an exceptional glow-in-the-dark performance with imploding sound and image. The band produced the video themselves in one of the member’s basement on a low budget, yet the result blew everyone away. The tight close-ups and a clean monochromatic pallet distinguish the musicians’ punchy minimalism for a few minutes. And once you start thinking that the video seems simple and boring, but flashes of neon light warn you that this is no ordinary live performance. The creative use of glow in the dark is a little creepy, but that’s what makes the band fun and exciting to watch.
