Summer and classic preppy style go together just like iced tea and lemonade during a warm evening on a beach, so it’s no surprise that Japanese label Bal went for prep with their “Soft Summer” spring/summer 2012 collection. A unique tailoring touch keeps this collection from looking straight out of Cape Cod, leaving us with an eastern interpretation of a classic American style that was worth the update. A standard khaki suit gets exciting with a red striped crew neck underneath and the red, white and blue woven belt underneath a rolled up oxford is about as prep as it gets. Throw in a leopard print orange scarf and oversize yellow plaid coat and you’ve got a combination that would be perfect to wear not just during the summer, but anytime of year.
