Hundreds of different artists have attempted to capture the impressive diversity of New York City through a variety of mediums, but none have recycled the old into something new quite like Denver based Evan Hecox in his new series of painted newspaper prints titled Dark Island. Using vintage newspaper as a base, Hecox recreated images he captured on a vintage polaroid while traveling through the city, offering his unique take of the sights and sounds of New York. The solid colors against the faded background creates a wonderful marriage of differences, much like you’ll find in the city itself.
