While the majority of modern architecture can verge on the slightly impractical, the Elwood House from Jost Architects in Australia is built with simplicity in mind, creating a residence that’s elegant without too many bells and whistles. A lighter, timber piece sits atop a more solid white slab, fitting in and poking out in places that keeps the delicate balance between covered and open spaces. An internal courtyard provides some internal tranqulility in a house with a clean and fresh aesthetic without overdoing it.
