Stephen Dorff joins the list of actors (e.g., Ryan Reynolds, Adrien Brody) giving solo performances in tight spots in “Brake,” a patterned crime thriller. It’s enhanced by Dorff’s vigorous portrayal of a confined man locked inside a car trunk with time running out. Jeremy Reins is a Secret Service agent abducted by terrorists seeking the location of the U.S. president’s whereabouts. In a minimum of light with a cell phone, flashlight and transmitter, he’s administered tortures, but uses his wiles and elite training to try to survive.
Director Gabe Torres delivers an admirable performance from Dorff in a film with some loopy and unbelievable moments which is still an attention-holder.
