Drawing inspiration from Paul Thomas Anderson’s 2007 instant classic There Will Be Blood, the Common People Fall/Winter 2012 collection takes on vintage workwear pieces with a modern touch, fostering a look so clever that even a man as individual (and slightly scary) as TWBB’s Daniel Plainview might want to copy it. Muted hues of khaki, navy and maroon play up the practical aesthetic, all while not being too drab. In this video preview put together by creative director Kestin Hare, a fine collection of outerwear makes a solid showing, as well as an olive tweed three piece suit, perfect for when the workday slides right into the evening. And just for good measure, there’s even a model with a dead copy of Plainview’s handlebar mustache. Now that’s what we call dedication.
