Located in the small village of Huairou, just outside the Chinese capital of Beijing, the Liyuan Library from Li Xiaodong Atelier is a true architectural work of art. Effortlessly blending in with the wooded environment surrounding it, the library is covered in thousands of reclaimed sticks, allowing natural light to trickle into the excellently designed spacious, multi-level interior. Glass sections along the walls and ceiling make the beautiful literary center welcoming to the sunlight, providing a warm atmosphere for the sleek wood-paneled interior. It’s almost too bad that the Liyuan Library fits in so well with the surrounding area – it’s a standout piece of architecture that deserves to be seen.
