In a society where the consitent focus is looking towards the newer and the better, artists like Kenyan Paris Lewis and his partner Kelsey Grace, and their prop company By Kenyan, take solace in items that have been around the block a few times. Their beautiful house in upstate New York is stuffed full of antiques that have been cast off by others, from old prosthetic limbs, to Kenyan’s favorite piece, the 1953 Desoto Firedome that makes for an excellent yard ornament.
Explored in this extremely well-produced film by Gary Nadeau, the couple seems to have a knack for a rustic sense of beauty that translates in everything from the decor of their home to their designs for customers. Nadeau is able to take advantage of the incredible scenery around their home (as well as inside of it) to paint an intimate portrait of two people that seem to hail from another era.
