James Dean should have lived much longer, yes, but his influence on men’s style in America has never faded completely, with the ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ look making a comeback in a spread for VMAN’s winter-spring issue. The iconic staple of the 50′s bad-boy, the leather jacket, reigns supreme in these photographs from Sharif Hamza, looking right at home over a plain white t-shirt and denim while occupying the booth of a Golden Era diner. But the Greasers won’t the only fashion influences, as preppy popped collars, tweed, and sweaters of the goody-two-shoes’ make a noteworthy appearance.
While the styling (from Tom van Dorpe) may catch your eye, it’s impossible to miss the centerpiece in the shoot: Hungarian model Eniko Mihalik, possessing a pair of eyes that just dare you to avert your gaze. Discovered in a shopping mall at age 15, Mihalik started off walking for Chanel in 2006, not receiving her big break until 2009, when she walked for a ridiculous over 50 designers internationally. Currently doing campaign work for Gucci and Barney’s New York, Mihalik has established her own unique angelic image, dressed here in a dress and blouse that throw your eyes in a time machine bound for post-war America.
