The new Cadillac XTS isn’t for everyone, and that’s the way the company wants it. With the 2012 model, they are really catering to the luxury market. Known by automotive enthusiasts as the “black car” business, Cadillac is trying to carve a place in the market following the departure of the Lincoln Town Car.
For so many years, the Town Car dominated, so much so that Town Car became the broad term used for that type of car. Now, Cadillac has foreign car makers like BMW and Audi in its sights. Not too much is known about about the XTS at this point. One feature of the car will be the new Cadillac User Experience infotainment system. The CUE system will have a display that the driver can tap, flick or swipe, much like that of a smartphone or tablet, and the display will pulse when pressed to ensure the driver knows what he or she is pressing while still being able to maintain a watch over the road. Also, a neat feature of the CUE system is the proximity sensor which allows the display to add icons to the screen if the driver’s hand gets within eight inches. The XTS will certainly be a good test to see if Cadillac can make itself known on the luxury car market.
