Helen and Josh Nissenboim, a young couple from Charleston, have taken a 19th-century building and turned it into a very comfortable living space. They’ve added modern appliances to their kitchen, but maintained the vintage feeling by incorporating an old farmhouse table. They have also traded shopping in the produce section for picking fruits and vegetables out of their garden and off their citrus trees in the back yard. The home also features six fire places that the two plan to refurbish in the the future. Until that time paintings and second hand mirrors find a home on their mantles. This home is a prime example of what can be done with the designs of the past. Whether it be grandpa’s old pocket watch or a 1,200-square-foot structure it seems to have a place in modern life.
