Steve McCurry is one of the most celebrated photographers in history. He has produced pieces of art and journalism that are capable of rendering onlookers speechless. Recently he was awarded the Leica Hall of Fame Award for 2011. The director of Leica Gallery Salzburg, Karen Rehn-Kaufmann, also awarded McCurry with a Leica M9-P, which had an engraving of his name.
McCurry focuses his work around a global society. His images portray an arrange of emotions, some of which can not be described by any amount of words. These photographs introduce people to a world that is peaceful, terrible, wonderful, boring, exciting, and beautiful all at the same time. Truly, this is a proper representation of mankind and the earth mankind calls home. The world is never always a perfect place to live, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming, but while there are dark places and times, there are also people dancing in the streets, children being born, and grass that is greener than any turquoise gem. McCurry captures all of these aspects in an amazing manner.
In the interview below, McCurry elaborates on his work and what drives him to keep producing his stunning photography.
