There aren’t two more recognizable names in the world of eyewear than Ray-Ban and Persol, with each popularizing frames with a vintage twist and solid construction. Both have released new specs for the F/W 2011 season, and both seem to follow suit with their already impeccable reputation.
From Persol, the PO2999S wouldn’t be out of place at any vintage shop, offering a variety of color combinations that can take a standard pair of sun blockers to an entirely new individual level. For their own foray in the world of customizability, the PO3002 comes stock with the standard round frame unique to Persol, but the added touch of a clip-on sun attachment for each pair, doubling the practical potential of a single pair in one clip.
From Ray-Ban, the Signet (3429) evokes a truly retro look, sporting a sleeker design that gives the frames an aerodynamic twinge and a look that offers a little variation from their ever-popular cousin, the aviators. The Aviator Flip Out (3460) sticks a classic frame design, but adding a slight bit of customization, allowing owners to switch between three different polarized lenses, ranging from rich blue to pinkish brown mirrored. In the land of regular specs, the brand new RB5244 seems to fall in the gap right between the Wayfarer and Clubmaster, plucking bits from each of the classic frames to create a fresh new pair of glasses.
Even as the sun fades while the seasons turn, a great pair of sun-specs is always an essential for any man, and picking from either Ray-Ban or Persol would complete the look with ease.
