Nicolas Hermann views photography as a way to expand his vision of the world. He sees his Leica M9 as a devise to expand his vision past a material world and into his true personality. After ending his pursuit of a degree in linguistics and a career in real estate, Hermann discovered his passion for photography. His mother’s best friend, Richard Geneste, became his mentor. Geneste helped Hermann develop his eye through painstaking critiques.
For the last two years Hermann has been working to capture realistic situation in the streets of Paris as well in India, where he traveled for six weeks with only his Leica M9 and a 35mm Summilux f/1.4 lens. His photos from this trip capture the emotion of his subjects as well as the overall essence of the environment, and has an unbelievable talent for capturing personality with a still photo.
