There’s no doubt that Hiroshi Awai is a talented designer. We’ve been fans of his since his earlier collections, and we honestly see a potential Designer of the Year Award of his CREEP label. For Fall/Winter 2011, Hiroshi not only dares to go a different direction than other labels in the construction department, but also takes a different turn in the use of colors. The designs are still solid with quilted jackets, tailored outerwear, heavy knit tops, and plaid patterned shirts. While his style always evokes workwear, he also infuses a unique color story into the mix. We see earth tones of tan, olive green, and rust in combination of seasonal blues and whites. While most labels are strictly on the monotone grey and black front of the season, Hiroshi’s CREEP goes beyond that with a splendid and unique spectrum of hues.
