When I went to the Agenda Show I was able to meet with Robert Nieves (@robertrnieves), Marketing Director for Psyberia Dry Goods. Robert and I were recently able to talk for a bit about the company. I was very impressed with the products and what will be coming out this fall/winter.
Psyberia which by their definition means the state of psychosis caused by a drop of body temperature. Psyberia is an up and coming NY based company which started with a soft launch in December of 2010. The products they launched were the Jack Frost Boot in two colorways and the Psyberian jacket in three colorways.
The man behind the brand is Danilo Peguero who has been a professionaly clothing designer for the past 5 years for various brands. His speciality has always been footwear design and he launched his first brand, “Pome“. After a successful launch of “Pome”, “Psyberia” was born.
According to Robert, Danilo saw the potential to expand the brand into a full blown winter lifestyle/activewear brand and he went back to the drawing board to invent a new standard in winter clothing. One of their tag lines is “Style Met Performance on a Mountain”, one of the quotes that embodies all that is Psyberia.
The inspirations behind the brand was rugged, worldly manliness. Robert describes it as a man in the middle of the winter with a jacket on with a big fur collar trekking to his Winter log cabin through the snow cabin to read his favorite Hemingway classic. ”That is our vision for Psyberia from a creative standpoint.”
They plan on working on a Spring/Summer line in the near future but for now we’ll be just fine with the Fall/Winter line.
